Choosing a Solar Panel Installer
When choosing a solar photovoltaic (PV) contractor, it is very important the home owner carries out a level of research and due diligence to check the contractor is registered, trained and competent to design, install, test & commission the solar PV system successfully.
In accordance with the SEAI “domestic technical standards and specifications”, the requirements for installation of Solar Photovoltaic (PV) systems are as detailed in SEAI’s published Code of Practice for Solar PV. The code of practice notes, “the Installer has total responsibility for ensuring compliance and must obtain assistance where required. The Installer must be registered on SEAI’s Solar PV Installer Register at the time the installation is carried out”. The Solar Photovoltaic (PV) modules shall be listed on the Triple E Product Register or meet the PV module requirements in the Solar PV Code of Practice.

Questions to ask the contractor
In order to receive an SEAI grant the work must be carried out by a contractor who has registered with the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland.
